The discrepancy in statistics between a traffic source and tracker is a regular case.
A certain percentage of traffic can be lost on its way to the tracker due to the following reasons:
Due to the traffic loss the cost is not be passed correctly to the tracker which ruins all the stats data. You can adjust the cost data later through Update Cost option.
However if you have tested your traffic source and see that discrepancy is reaching 20%, you can set up the traffic loss in traffic source settings.
The cost data will be adjusted according to the percentage value you have specified.
To set up the percentage of traffic loss it is required to edit the existing traffic source or specify the traffic loss while setting up a new traffic source. Then follow the steps described below:
The value should always be based on the result of testing. The loss is different with each traffic source. However there are some general recommendations which can be applied in the process of identifying the loss value:
Setting up the percentage of traffic loss allows to display the cost data correctly even when there is traffic discrepancy between BeMob and your traffic source.
If the value of traffic loss is more than zero, then BeMob will be calculating the total traffic cost as (100% + traffic loss %) * traffic cost for the certain campaign.
The traffic cost will be automatically displayed in Cost column corrected to the traffic loss percentage value.
On the example below you can see the stats for the campaign with the traffic cost is set up to CPV = $0.01 and traffic loss = 20%.
The total cost should be equal $0.5, but since the traffic loss is set up to 20% for this traffic source, the cost is higher on 20%.
Traffic Loss Percentage is extremely useful when running many campaigns with the same traffic source. You will have no need to update the traffic cost to reduce the discrepancy between tracker and traffic source.
